The Republic of Kosovo is a beautiful country with a rich culture. There are countless places to visit, eat, and explore but we've narrowed it down to a few to get you started on your journey. Check out some of our favorites!
Gjakova is the seventh largest city in Kosovo and is known for its beautiful stone architecture and its vast number of monuments. This city has a rich history of trade dating back to the Ottoman empire. It still happens to be a great place to do some trading (aka shopping!) of your own. And of course, some major sight-seeing is a necessity when visiting this beautiful city.
Restuaurant Liburnia is a must-try as you travel through the city of Pristina. The atmosphere is beautiful and the dishes are even more appealing. Looking to broaden your restaurant portfolio in Pristina? We also recommend Tiffany for an amazing dining experience. With no set menu and a family-style presentation, you are sure to be wowed.
While Kosovo is a country made to be explored for the culture and history, it is also home to some amazing natural landscapes. Rugova Canyon would be our first stop on a tour of Kosovo's most beautiful places, but of course we have lots of other recommendations if you can't make it over to Peja! Check out the Mirusha Waterfalls and Cayons, Sharr Mountain National Park, and Prokletije National Park. All are unique and offer amazing outdoor experiences.
The Sunny Hill festival is one we are super excited to see take off! It is set to take place again this year and is sure to feature some really amazing artists from around the Balkans and internationally. You can follow their Instagram for updates @sunnyhillfestival.
Of course all of our favorite brands are consumable! Some really great products have come out of Kosovo and we try to stay updated on any new ones. Some of our favorites are things like Prince Caffe, a great little shop with coffee beans you can buy and take home! We also love Amëz Ajvar, Birra Peja, and Stonecastle Wine.
And, of course, you have to try as much burek as you can get your hands on. Burek is a staple throughout Kosovo and the Balkans and it is found in most bakeries. If you get the chance, go on your own tour of bakeries to discover which one makes your favorite burek!
