Much of Albania borders the sea, making for beautiful landscapes (and amazing food!) With a rich culture that can be seen in everything from food to architecture, here's all the reasons you should add Albania to your bucket list.
Ksamil is a place where you can get beautiful beaches, perfect for tourists, and a small-town feel. The charm extends past the quaint buildings into the overall culture itself.
Beaches aren't your thing? Check out the beautiful Gjirokaster! Described as Albania's Stone City, Gjirokaster is home to some beautiful buildings, amazing shops, and loads of sites to see, such as the Gjirokaster Fortress (if you don't mind a bit of a walk to the top!)
People rave about this place for a reason! If great dining experiences and good food are your thing, this should be your next stop.
Some others we highly recommend are Uka Farm where you can get a delicious and healthy meal along with some wine from their vineyard, and Mullixhiu where you can find local cuisine sourced from small farms for a sustainable (and amazing) meal.
If your mentality is that "the journey is more important than the destination," then you've got to take a ride on the Lake Koman Ferry!
Are you looking to get outdoors? Hike from Theth to Valbona! This 6-8 hour hike is so rewarding as you treck through the Albanian Alps. Or, if you're looking for something more casual, take a soak in the Benja Hot Springs.
And, of course, eat burek for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Burek is a staple throughout Albania and it is found in most bakeries. If you get the chance, go on your own tour of bakeries to discover which one makes your favorite burek!
